"Tsume-kaki Hon-tsuzure" (fingernail-woven tapestry weave) textiles featuring an all-over pattern have long been considered so valuable that a single piece could cost as much as a house. Although this is a Nagoya-style obi, it is tailored with a "tunnel" construction, giving the appearance of a formal *Niju-daiko* (double-layer drum knot) when worn. There are some stains, but because it is a genuine *Hon-tsuzure* weave, these can be completely eliminated by turning the fabric over and having it re-tailored.
It has been treated with "Pearl-ton" processing, making it water-repellent.
